The Slim Dusty Centre’s Nulla Nulla Gallery is launching Behind the Lines 2015, the year’s best political cartoons a travelling exhibition from the Museum of Australian Democracy. Curator Tania Cleary has selected 80 of the best cartoons from 39 of Australia’s best cartoonists. This exhibition displays some of Australia’s most controversial cartoons that test the boundaries of free speech and the freedom of the press. Behind the Lines 2015 celebrates the role of satire and the best political cartoonists in Australia, whilst highlighting the power that their drawings have in contributing to our daily political and social discourse. The Behind the Lines 2015 exhibition also features a video compilation of interviews with cartoonists by Mike Bowers on the ABC program Insiders, and the : the Game’, a card game for all the family to play, providing a snapshot of the year in politics in a playful and engaging way for families. Not to be missed the Behind the Lines 2015 exhibition is both rollicking and serious and will leave visitors with much to think about. Behind the Lines 2015 is a Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House travelling exhibition hosted by the Slim Dusty Centre. This exhibition is supported by the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program, an Australian Government program aiming to improve access to the national collections for all Australians.
